Its Our Mission to Give You an

Edge.

Where athletes are developed through the unseen realities in competing at higher levels of hockey. Built from the experience of growing up without any early guidance, and ignited by those who say you're not good enough. NorthEdge exists to share the game within the game.

Evolving Coaches

How the sport of hockey has changed within the past 5 years:

- face-offs

- 5 player offense

- power play and penalty kill

- defensive zone rotations

- line-rush offense

- *the way defensemen play defense*

How we can evolve the coaching:

- education on face-off positioning and responsibility

- integrating better systems (if you like your system already...how to make it better and more detailed)

- power play and penalty kill (zone entry, pk forecheck, in-zone habits).

- developing better tendencies in the d-zone

- line-rush production

an Edge on your competition

Competing at higher levels of hockey presents unique challenges. Limited exposure and inconsistent development often leaves athletes guessing what truly matters. Many players work hard but are never shown how to navigate the process beyond the rink — how to prepare properly, gain attention, or make the right decisions at the right time. NorthEdge Hockey is built on firsthand experience living inside that system.

Meet Your Mentors

David Helledy is a Division I college hockey player who understands competition at an elite level. He grew up in a Wisconsin town that was not necessarily proficient in hockey and consistently felt that he was not good enough compared to young Midwest players who were starting to attract attention. Feeling on the outside influenced a passion to search for inside knowledge and habits that elite hockey players rely on to perform at the highest level.

David's hockey path is quite unique, and reflects a steady climb through every level of the game. He began playing youth hockey in Wisconsin with SHAW before advancing to AAA competition with the Jr. Admirals. During high school, David took a more serious approach to his development when he moved out east at the age of 17 to join a prep hockey school called New Hampton. He played 42 games and earned the Gall Hockey Award as team MVP in his senior year. His performance led to a tender in the NAHL, where he competed in 117 games, recording 17 goals and 51 assists for 68 points. David now competes at the Division I level with Bentley University in the Atlantic Hockey Conference and was part of the team’s championship run and NCAA Tournament appearance during his freshman season.

David can provide students with inside information from a high level of hockey that he was never able to receive while growing up. This mentorship will accelerate athletes’ preparation, confidence, and performance. You will quickly learn how to separate yourself in competitive environments and high-pressure situations.
